while i agree mostly, i think that placing the focus on children obfuscates the fact that it's completely reasonable for it to be offensive to adults as well.
not to detract from your point, just wanted to point out the use of fear monger about child protection actually works to weaken your argument.
you have to be 13 to use this site. other than that it's a good suggestion.
Posted 5 months agoRemember that all our multiplayer games are embeddable, this means that a lot of people can play these games as guests without ever registering, seeing, or knowing about Nonoba. It's kinda hard to report some anonymous idiot who has no connection to Nonoba whatsoever.
Trying to police this or force people to behave is a Sisyphean task and we're not gonna go in that direction. What we can do though is to make better self-moderation tools, e.g. vote-kicking and a more visible ignore function, those would really help in these situations.
Just correct it when it happens?

yes, but not everyone knows about /ignore, and it's reactionary to an incident instead of proactive to future prevention.
