It becomes impossible at some point, so it's about getting the most points you can in that time. The faster you go, the more points you get. If you take too long to get to a fish, you won't get many points at all.

Remember that you must move as quickly as possible. The faster you get to the fish, the higher you score. So don't just stroll to the first several fish.

Smallzworld, is there supposed to be about an inch (2-3cm) in between every fish thats following you? I'm asking because at around 25-30k points the whole screen is filled with fish and there is no way to evade them...could this be caused by lag?

Yeah, I think it could be based on the performance of your system. What kind of system do you have ?
It's hard to explain, but the animation is "time based", so if your system is running slow.. it might cause the problem you are talking about . But... I think I've come up with a solution to get rid of the gaps in that case. Want to test it out for me ?

Yes, you can actually do that in some cases... I was thinking about making the lead fish smaller so you could do that easier. Right now, it will happen in some cases.. very rare though. You have to be going really quickly so that the gaps between the fishes expand.

I don't like it.. There're some times when the fish won't respond to the key I'm pressing and that would cause me to lose. My computer isn't lagging, so I don't know what to tell you.

danidlish - try it again today. I uploaded a new version that hopefully works better for slower computers. You know that leftright rotates your fish -- it doesn't move the fish leftright - it turns his facing.

I think this game is pretty well balanced, and manage to give us a good challenge to get 100k..

But for some reason when it starts to get little space left because of all the fish you have collected, then the game lags alittle..

It has to do with the animation being time based and then a lag being introduced. I am working on a fix for that. basically I will catch any situation where the time elapsed between frames is higher than expected... then offset the game clock... in theory that should work. (crossing fingers) :)

Smallz, the delete is there to delete offensive or posts which offer no help as to how you can improve. Deleting any negative post is a bit over the top. Its good here until you start to get alot of fish which is when it starts to lag. Try cacheAsBitmap = true for a bit of extra speed because that few instances shouldn't cause so much lag

I believe cacheAsBitmap is on, but unfortunately with rotation I believe it doesn't help. rotation every frame for every fish is pretty expensive. I might only change the facing of half of the trailing fish each frame... that would cut the performance of that in half.

Also, I believe I am doing hitTests against every fish. I'll probably add a distance test first to exclude fish from the hitTest.

Focus on working quicker. The faster you get a fish, the more points you get. So speed is essential, especially with the early fish.

umm glitch i started the game there were two fish on the screen for me to get i got one it said 1,000,000 points but i wouldn't disapear and the other one didn't do anythign then i the walls didn't work and there was a ker-plunk noise

Anyway, my un-proffesional opinion is this:

Its fairly simple to get 100k, after some practice its easy to get constantly 100k points. However, even getting 20k more is almost impossible.

I would add another achievement up at 150k, if thats possible, and you think its a good idea, of course, to give people something to waste their summers away working for.

Great game. Achievements were a bit easy, but fun to get nonetheless. I only have one small bit of negative feedback, if you could make it so that you could click a keyboard button to restart the level it would be great. It breaks your concentration to have to keep reaching for the mouse every time you lose.

xfantomsniperx - the key is going very quickly at the beginning. The faster you get to each fish, the more points you get. This becomes much harder as the game goes on.. but in the beginning, you can improve your score by moving quickly.

I've decided that lag is a problem on Nonoba and not just in this game or my connection. It's doing this weird thing where the whole screen will glitch and when it starts moving again, the lead fish is about an inch ahead of the rest of the school. If I'm anywhere near the edge, I automatically lose every time.

Love the game, especially since it is a new version of Snake that isn't a genetic clone. The music and soundeffects are great! Graphics also impressed me for a game such as that.

A couple things you might wanna think about:
-Turning the fish is TOUGH. I don't know if you could make it slightly easier to turn.
-Make the playing field larger or make the fish stay close together, it gets difficult to go anywhere with such spacious fish ;)

But other than that this gets a 4.5 from me. =D
